Tell us a bit about yourself (name, location, personal and work stuff). My name is Fabio Iaschi, I was born - and still living - in Parma, Italy. Today I’m working as Freelance Art Director, basically for on-line projects. I’m totally in love with flash animation! What first made you want to become an artist? Being an artist is not a choice, it’s a need. I love to draw since I was a baby, this is thanks to my aunt which made me drawn while eating and thanks to my uncle, now an old man that worked as Art Director. In his office I observed him for hours drawing perfect lines with pen and ink. More than an artist, I consider myself a designer. Actuality, politics, exclusion, and any kind of abomination inspire me so much to making something to show. An artist must have something to tell, my arguments come from the dark side of the human race. This maybe a counter-effect of my advertising work, totally devoted to perfection, money-making and happyness. I feel it my duty to bring people on this planet. Please describe your creative process (how, when, materials, etc). I’m a methodic and accurate person, after the core idea I need a lot of research about a project, searching solutions to little problems. I prefer photography and computer graphic, but also hand painting. My favourite subject is graphism. Drawing on my Moleskine is not part of a creative project, it’s my Mantra. I use to draw on it ’cause it’s a ritual that makes me feel good. For these drawing I use a Mars Micro refillable pencil or any kind of instrument that i found in the nearby. What are some of your current projects? I’ve just created a serie of four photo-compositions for a open-air exhibit in Cremona, named Diseases (one, two, three, four). I’ve also produced by myself the frames. What advice would you give to artists who are just starting out? Make a solid project, starting from a fresh idea. Art wants motivation. And always share your work! Tell us a bit about the subject matter in your sketches on skineart. Persons you can see on the pages of my Moleskine are friends of mine, parents or famous people. I always carry them with me, in my pocket, like a linus blanket. What are your porftolio sites/blog? You can find my blog, drawn on Moleskine, at mymoleskine.net and other stuff at torakiki.net. Besides creating fantastic artwork, what are your other hobbies? My sedentary work forces me to do some kind of sport like swimming. After a long day at the desk, my body wants to suffer. |
